MIT REAP HUALIEN
Postcard from the Future

Friday, November 22, 2024

It is July 2025, and Hualien already feels different. Our stakeholders have been meeting monthly since we returned from Boston. And we’ve settled on a unified vision for the future. We’ve been sharing our progress on our new REAP Hualien website both in English and in Mandarin for the benefit of all of Taiwan and the world.

We’ve defined a thesis for our development fund and have identified our LPs. Roy has launched his company and has raised a significant amount of meaningful money.

We’ve held our first big international community event in our new incubator space with our partners at venture Café, Tokyo and Fukuoka.

The buzz we’re generating is attracting attention from around the world — so much so that we’ve attracted all of the corporations that originally weren’t interested in REAP to join us as partners. Entrepreneurs are putting us on the radar.

Overall, the future looks bright. There’s a feeling of excitement in the air as we depart for Boston. We look forward to our next steps and developing our growing in innovation ecosystem.
